Forest Troll - Supernatural

I worked on this Troll for season 13 of Supernatural. This guy is the biggest creature I've worked on which presented plenty of challenges I had to overcome. The toughest part was you have to work at such a resolution to bring out super fine details in an already highly detailed creature. You have to think in a way that the little bits of dead skin and dirt under the fingernails are as big as a person, so the scale has to reflect that. I'm not sure I did a perfect job of that but it was a great learning experience none the less.
The Troll was started with a base model sculpted into the proportions we wanted and the head was completely rebuilt from scratch and reattached. I sculpted the model in Zbrush, then UV'd and reprojected. I ended up with 20 tiles, most at 4k, but bumped the face up to 8k, and 1 or 2k for anywhere the camera wouldn't really see. Textures were done in Mari and Photoshop and then shaded and lit with VRay.
